August 25, 2014

Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the city council of Comfrey met in special session Monday, August 25, 2014 at 7:30 PM in the community center with all members present.  Mayor Richter presided.  Purpose of the meeting was for long-range planning and to handle any other business brought before the council.

The July financial report was reviewed and approved on motion of Evers, seconded by Schmitt and carried unanimously.

Council was informed that Karen Hillesheim and Alan Barnes will be attending the Bridging Brown County Leadership Program this year.

Discussion was held regarding the community center kitchen.  The council would like to see the kitchen thoroughly cleaned and organized.  It seems the kitchen has accumulated “extras” throughout the years that may or may not be useful.  Clerk Kelly will contact the custodians to see if it is a project they would like to take on.

A motion was made by Arnsdorf, seconded by Kastner and carried unanimously to purchase sand to place around the playground equipment in both the North and South Park.

Long-range planning for all departments within the city was held.  Possible capital improvements through the year 2019 were suggested.

The meeting adjourned on motion of Arnsdorf, seconded by Schmitt
