The City Council of Comfrey met in regular session Monday March 2, 2015 at 7:00 PM in the community center with all members present. Attorney Paul Muske was also present. Mayor Richter presided.

The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was recited.

The agenda was approved as presented.

February 4, 2015 regular meeting minutes were read and approved on motion of Evers, seconded by Schmitt and carried unanimously.

On motion of Arnsdorf, seconded by Kastner and carried unanimously, the following bills were approved:

The financial was reviewed and approved on motion by Arnsdorf, seconded by Evers and carried unanimously.

Fire Chief Berberich reported the new air packs have been put into service.  He also has done some checking into the option of the fire department being paged on their cell phones in addition to the normal paging done already.  He will get some pricing and bring additional information to the next council meeting.

Berberich notified the council Bolton & Menk looked over the water plant and water tower for project estimates.  They will get the process started to be put on the project list for funding.

Discussion was had regarding the garbage service and the option of the City purchasing some garbage carts to have on hand for residents to purchase.  Berberich found a wheeled cart with an attached lid. A motion was made by Kastner, seconded by Schmitt and carried unanimously for the City to purchase twenty garbage containers to have on hand for purchase. 

Police Chief Meyer presented the monthly police report.

Arnsdorf presented the library board report and reviewed minutes. 

No new updates on the Little White Church at this time.

A motion was made by Arnsdorf, seconded by Schmitt and carried unanimously to approve the garbage contract with Braun and Borth Sanitation.

A resolution expressing acceptance and appreciation for memorial donations in honor of Richard Zwaschka to the First Responders for $45 and the Comfrey Area Library for $25; in honor Joan Eischen to the Comfrey Area Library for $25 and in honor of Joan Mathiowetz to the First Responders for $5. This resolution was approved on a motion from Arnsdorf, seconded by Evers and carried unanimously.

A request was made from Brown County Triad to waive charges for their quarterly community meeting in April and October. A motion was made by Arnsdorf, seconded by Evers and carried unanimously to waive the fees for the community meeting.

Council member Kastner talked with Northern States Natural Gas about the possibility of natural gas in Comfrey. They are going to put together some information for the council to review.

Police department was passed by a motion made Arnsdorf, seconded by Schmitt and carried unanimously.
